Comment: INVESTING GUIDE for my free investing cheat sheet to start your journey! Here's how i invested in April - just before the ISA allowance resets (this is your reminder to do so too)! I added my final £500 to make it the second year in a row I've managed to use up the full £20,000! In this video we compare an S&P 500 fund with an All-world fund - both have pros and cons! Let me know how you're investing 🙌 #investing #personalfinance #money
I invested £3,200 in April as a 35 year old in The UK. I added my last £500 into my stocks and shares ISA, which means I've used my full £20,000 allowance for the tax year ending April 5. I'm splitting this £500 between an S and P five hundred fund and an all world fund as an experiment. Let's compare the two. The S and P five hundred fund is cheaper at 0.05%. Historically, it has outperformed the all world and it has a high concentration of innovative tech companies. On the flip side, that concentration means a lot of your money is in a handful of companies and it's only US companies, which means diversification all world. Over the last twelve months, it's returned 16.86% versus the all world, which returned 24.57%. Now the all world fund. It's got global diversification also includes emerging markets, whereas the S and P is just a single developed country. It has over 2,000 stocks versus the S and P's 500. The cons are that the diversification across countries makes it slightly more expensive at naught point 15%, but still super cheap. Not only has it underperformed historically versus the S and P 500, you could also argue it's overweight The US too. Now for my pension, I've invested £2,700 in a FTSE global all cap fund. So whereas the all world fund we talked about includes over 2,000 large and midsize companies from around the world, all cap funds also include small businesses, and it has over 7,000 companies as a result, and the charge is slightly higher as a result at 0.23%. It's returned 78% for me over the last five years. Comment investing guide and I'll send you my free investing cheat sheet and follow me for more investing content.
